Cassie Chadderton is to step down as head of UK Theatre.

She has been in the role since 2016, and will leave in October to become the first chief executive of World Book Day.

Chadderton said: “I’m thrilled to be joining World Book Day as its first chief executive, and to have this wonderful opportunity to build on its profile and success.

“I’m looking forward to developing its ambition to give even more children and young people across the country, and from all backgrounds, the chance to be excited about reading and books.”

Chadderton joined UK Theatre, the professional association for UK-wide theatre and performing arts, from Arts Council England, where she was head of media and stakeholder relations.

She is also a fellow of the Royal Society of Arts and a trustee for the National Campaign for the Arts.
