A former television studio in north west London has been lined up to become a temporary theatre.
Property developer Quintain has applied to change the use of Fountain Studios, Wembley from a television studio to a theatre for a seven-year period.
Previously the studio hosted programmes including The X Factor and Britain’s Got Talent. It was purchased by Wembley Arena owner Quintain in 2016.
In the proposal to Brent Council, Quintain is seeking permission to build an external seating area at ground level.
The Stage understands the developer is in talks with a high-profile theatre producer with pop-up venue experience.
Plans were announced last year for a live show based on The Hunger Games to be performed at a purpose-built theatre near Wembley Stadium . However, the plans were delayed in July 2016 . It is unclear if this application is related.
Quintain has declined to comment further on the planning application.
