Strictly Ballroom has announced it is to close in the West End after seven months.

The stage adaptation of Baz Lurhmann’s film of the same name began performances at the Piccadilly Theatre in March, following a run at the Leeds Playhouse in 2016.

It will play its final performance in the West End on October 27, producers have confirmed.

They said: “We are immensely proud of the production, led by our hugely talented cast and creative team, and have been thrilled by the standing ovations that audiences have responded with night after night. We would like to thank everyone involved for bringing this joyous new musical to the stage.”

The musical stars Zizi Strallen, Jonny Labey and Matt Cardle.

It is directed and choreographed by Drew McOnie and produced by Global Creatures.
