The Mayflower Theatre in Southampton has been named one of the 100 best companies to work for in the UK.

The Mayflower is placed 52nd on the Sunday Times’ annual list of not-for-profit organisations in the UK.

It is the only theatre to feature on the list, which is in its 18th year. Previous years’ lists have included Festival and King’s Theatres, Edinburgh, and the Birmingham Hippodrome.

Birmingham Hippodrome recognised as one of UK’s best employers

As part of the external research that generates the list, staff members were asked a series of questions in eight areas including leadership, personal growth and well-being.

Of those surveyed, 90% said they felt proud to work for the theatre and 79% were happy with the pay and benefits they received.

The theatre’s chief executive Michael Ockwell said: “We are all very proud that we have been ranked as 52nd in the top 100 companies after taking part for the very first time.

“Mayflower Theatre staff are dedicated to offering the best possible customer service and work hard to offer all our partners and supporters inspiring experiences.”

The not-for-profit list is one of several compiled every year. Others include the 100 best small companies and 25 best big companies to work for.
