Shane Richie is to join the cast of Everybody’s Talking About Jamie.

The EastEnders actor will play the role of Hugo/Loco Chanelle from January 28 to May 4.

Richie said the role was different to any he had played before, and described it as “too good an opportunity to miss”.

Producer Nica Burns  added: “I know Shane will pull out all the stops and make Hugo/Chanelle entirely his own.”

Richie has played Alfie Moon in EastEnders since 2002. His West End stage credits include Grease and Boogie Nights.

Richie joins the show as Layton Williams takes on the role of Jamie New.

The musical is written by Tom MacRae, with music by Dan Gillespie Sells.
