Theatre company Selladoor Worldwide has announced a partnership with Turkish music promoter PIU Entertainment, which will see it diversify its output and expand into Eastern Europe.

Selladoor, which has worked primarily in touring theatre since it was founded in 2009, will join forces with PIU to co-produce live entertainment and music in addition to its theatre shows.

The collaboration means the two companies will bring together their respective international offices in Bangkok, New York, London, Ankara, Dubai and Istanbul, and push into what they describe as the emerging Eastern European market.

Selladoor’s recent productions have included UK tours of musicals Flashdance, Footloose and Spamalot, as well as plays including Of Mice and Men and Diane Samuels’ Kindertransport. Since its founding in 2012, PIU has presented concerts by artists including Andre Rieu, Placido Domingo and Sarah Brightman.

Selladoor’s executive creative producer David Hutchinson said: “As we continue to explore the richly diverse theatre markets around the world, we are extremely fortunate to have PIU Entertainment provide excellent knowledge and experience in new regions that Selladoor Worldwide has not yet ventured.”

Hutchinson described Selladoor as “novices” in the music event industry, and said: “As well as expanding the locational opportunities for our productions, we are particularly keen to diversity our offering into non-theatre entertainment and move into live music and non-traditional theatre spaces.”
