Royal Shakespeare Company’s Imperium lands West End transfer

The Royal Shakespeare Company’s production of Imperium, based on the Cicero trilogy of books by Robert Harris, is to transfer to the West End.

The two-part stage adaptation, produced by the RSC and Playful Productions, will run at the Gielgud Theatre from June 14 to September 8.

Mike Poulton has adapted Harris’ books and the stage production is directed by Gregory Doran, RSC artistic director.

The cast will include Siobhan Redmond, Richard McCabe, Nicholas Boulton, Michael Grady-Hall, Oliver Johnstone and Hywel Morgan.

Poulton’s previous adaptations for the RSC have included Wolf Hall and Bring Up the Bodies, also produced in the West End by Playful Productions and the RSC.

Imperium is designed by Anthony Ward, with lighting by Mark Henderson. Music is composed by Paul Englishby, with sound by Claire Windsor.
