Kelsey Grammer and Danielle de Niese are to star in the first West End production of Tony award-winning musical Man of La Mancha in 50 years. The musical, which is inspired by Miguel de Cervantes’ Don Quixote, will run at the London Coliseum from April 26 to June 8, with press night on April 30.

Further dates have been confirmed for the new UK and Ireland tour of Les Miserables, which began earlier this month. Ghost the Musical has announced it will return to the UK next year for a four-month tour. The musical, based on the film of the same name, will open a new tour on January 8 at the Churchill Theatre in Bromley, and run until May 4.

Tom Hiddleston is to star in a production of Harold Pinter’s Betrayal as part of a West End season celebrating the playwright. Betrayal will run at the Harold Pinter Theatre from March 5 to June 1, 2019, with press night on March 13. It is the final production in the Pinter at the Pinter season, marking 10 years since the writer’s death.

Theatr Clwyd has announced it is co-producing a show with the Menier Chocolate Factory for the first time, a revival of Tennessee Williams’ Orpheus Descending. It will be directed by Theatr Clwyd artistic director Tamara Harvey, and will transfer to London’s Menier following a run at Theatr Clwyd in April. Theatr Clwyd’s season also includes a new adaptation of Jacqueline Wilson’s Wave Me Goodbye, by Emma Reeves and directed by Christian Patterson. Elsewhere, the theatre will stage a large-scale production called The Mold Riots and the return of Laura Wade’s Home, I’m Darling.

Full casting has been announced for the forthcoming UK tour of David Mamet’s Glengarry Glen Ross. Joining Nigel Harman and Mark Benton will be Denis Conway, Will Johnson, Scott Sparrow, James Staddon and Zephryn Taitte. It begins on February 14, visiting locations across the UK until May 4. Press night will be on February 20 at the New Alexandra Theatre in Birmingham.

Gary Lineker is to appear as a projection in the world premiere of Sandi Toksvig’s Treasure Island at the Leicester Haymarket. He will play the role of Captain Flint, and he filmed the role at Toksvig’s request. Others in the production, which runs from December 13 to January 6, include Jules Brown as Long John Silver, Kat Engall as Jim Hawkins and Andrew Cullum as Sir Kensington Gore.

Nuffield Southampton Theatres has announced its Spring and summer 2019 season, which includes Samuel Hodges directing the UK regional premiere of Peter Morgan’s The Audience. Other highlights include the stage adaptation of Khaled Hosseini’s A Thousand Splendid Suns by Ursula Rani Sarma in a co-production with Birmingham Repertory Theatre and Northern Stage, new audio play, The Line, curated by Barney Norris, which will tour Southampton in a Ford Transit Van.
Rain Man has announced new casting and extended the run of its tour until April 20, 19. Venues it will visit in 2019 include Bath’s Theatre Royal, Darlington’s Hippodrome, Glasgow’s Theatre Royal and the Playhouse Theatre in Weston-Super-Mare.

Hampstead Theatre is to stage the UK premiere of Martyna Majok’s Cost of Living, and has announced two world premieres for its Hampstead Downstairs space. Cost of Living will be directed by Edward Hall, and runs from January 24 to March 2. The world premiere of Hannah Patterson’s Eden will run in the Hampstead Downstairs space from February 7 to March 16, directed by Matthew Xia. This will be followed by the world premiere of Wilderness, by Kellie Smith, which will be directed by Anna Ledwich. It runs from March 21 to April 27, with press night on April 3.
1927’s Golem to be screened on BBC Four at 10.30pm on November 18. The dystopian story was filmed earlier this year for the Space at London’s ArtsDepot.

Cirque du Soleil has announced the UK premiere of a show inspired by the film Avatar, which has been developed with director James Cameron. Toruk – the First Flight will run at Manchester Arena from June 20 to 23 and at London’s O2 Arena from June 26 to 30.
