Paul Elliott denies he is retiring from theatre

Producer Paul Elliott has insisted he is not retiring from the industry, despite a press release issued earlier this week that announced he was.

Elliott is about to publish a new book about his 60 years in theatre, Keeping My Balls in the Air. When it was announced earlier this week, a press release said it would be launched at a party to make his “official retirement” in June [1].

However, Elliott has since clarified that he is not in fact retiring, but is winding up his company, Paul Elliott Ltd, and will become a consultant.

“I am not retiring. I am in fact closing my production company and becoming a consultant – I am already working on two shows with Karl Sydow and Tristan Baker in 2019, and looking forward to lots of new opportunities, including a two-year contract with the Mirvish Organisation in Canada. And I’m in talks with other people in the UK,” he said.

Over his 60 years in the industry, Elliott has become known for his pantomimes and is also the producer of Dirty Dancing – the Classic Story on Stage.
