Paapa Essiedu, Maggie Steed and Keith Allen to star in Harold Pinter West End season
Paapa Essiedu, Maggie Steed and Keith Allen are to star in a West End season of Harold Pinter’s one-act plays.
The plays will be performed at the Harold Pinter Theatre to mark the 10th anniversary of the playwright’s death.
Essiedu and Steed will perform in Ashes to Ashes, which is directed by Lia Williams and runs from September 6 to October 20.
Allen will perform alongside the previously announced Tamsin Greig in Landscape and A Kind of Alaska, directed by Jamie Lloyd.
Other casting to be announced includes Rupert Graves, who will star alongside Jane Horrocks, Emma Naomi and Nicholas Woodeson in a set of three plays directed by Patrick Marber; The Room, Family Voices and Victoria Station.
Gary Kemp, Phil Davis and John Simm have also been announced to perform alongside a cast which includes the previously announced Tracy Ann Oberman and The Stage Debut Award winner Abraham Popoola. They will perform in Party Time and Celebration, also directed by Lloyd.
25,000 tickets for the season will be made available for £15.
Essiedu said: “25,000 good seats for £15 will provide meaningful access to Pinter’s work for new theatregoers who may never have experienced the power of his work before. I feel certain that Pinter, the working-class boy from Hackney, would have approved.”
Pinter at the Pinter is part of the Pinter 10 partnership with the BFI, the Harold Pinter Estate and Faber and Faber, which is marking the 10th anniversary of Pinter’s death with a series of events celebrating the life of the playwright.
Further casting is to be announced.
