The Observer’s dance critic Luke Jennings has announced he is stepping down from the role after 14 years.

Jennings provided regular reviews for the Observer New Review, but confirmed on Twitter that this month would be his last for the Sunday newspaper.

Jennings said the role had been “a joy and privilege”, but said: “It’s time to step aside and pursue new projects. With thanks for your loyalty and support.”

Alongside his journalistic work, Jennings is an author whose books include the Villanelle novels, which are the basis for the recent BBC drama series Killing Eve.

It comes after Quentin Letts left the Daily Mail after 14 years.
