Musical writers supported through launch of new advice kit
Musical theatre collaborators are being offered guidance on every aspect of creating a show, through a new resource launched this week.
The Musical Theatre Kit developed by the Musicians’ Union and the Writers’ Guild of Great Britain is described as a “map” to the unions’ guidelines on staging a musical. It signposts the places where detailed information can be found about each aspect of the process.
The kit will help writing teams with issues around copyright, as well as providing advice on source material.
It also provides support for turning a completed writing project into a staged production.
The MU said: “At each stage, the budding writer and working partners are given vital information and sources to smooth their path. This kit should prove a vital document in encouraging and supporting writers for musical theatre.”
