Mercury’s Daniel Buckroyd appointed to lead Exeter Northcott Theatre
Exeter Northcott Theatre has announced that Daniel Buckroyd will take over as artistic and executive director later this year.
Buckroyd is currently artistic director of the Mercury Theatre in Colchester.
He will join Exeter Northcott in the autumn, replacing Paul Jepson, who announced his departure last month after running the theatre for three years.
During his time at the Mercury, Buckroyd launched its Made in Colchester production programme, which created new works for the Mercury and for touring.
He said of his appointment: “I have followed the Northcott closely ever since I directed my first professional production there some years ago, and am delighted to have been given this opportunity to return to Exeter and work in partnership with Exeter University, Exeter City Council and Arts Council England to build on the theatre’s reputation for artistic excellence, continue to grow and diversity audiences locally, and extend the organisation’s reach throughout the South West and further afield.”
