West End musical Matilda is changing its weekday shows to a 7pm start, following a survey that found audiences would be in favour of the move.

From September 12, all weekday shows will begin at 7pm, instead of 7.30pm, with the survey finding that audience members wanted more time to socialise after a show. Audiences also felt there would be less concern about making a last train home, and parents would be able to enjoy a night out if they could get home earlier to release a babysitter.

Matilda the Musical is written by Dennis Kelly, with music and lyrics by Tim Minchin, and direction by Matthew Warchus.

It is produced in the West End by the Royal Shakespeare Company with Andre Ptaszynski and Denise Wood as executive producers.
