A second fringe venue from the team behind the Bread and Roses pub theatre in Clapham is to launch in north London.

The Chapel Playhouse opens next month in the basement of the Chapel bar in King’s Cross, which is now being operated by the Bread and Roses’ management.

The 70-seat performance space will be a sister venue to the Clapham theatre and will stage a range of theatre, cabaret and comedy. It will host its own comedy club and will also be a venue for the Camden Fringe Festival, which takes place annually in July.

The basement space, which is fully accessible, is currently undergoing works to transform it into a theatre. It will launch on January 19.

It will be open part-time, from Thursday to Sunday.

The 54-seat Bread and Roses launched in 2014, above the pub of the same name, in south London and runs a programme of theatre and arts events, as well as also hosting its own comedy club.
