Kinky Boots announces West End closure

Kinky Boots has announced it will close in the West End in January after a three-year run.

The show, which has music by Cyndi Lauper, will play its last performance at the Adelphi Theatre on January 12, 2019.

It opened there in September 2015, following a run on Broadway.

The musical has a book by Harvey Fierstein and is directed and choreographed by Jerry Mitchell. It recently underwent a cast change, with Oliver Tompsett stepping into the role of Charlie Price.

Ahead of its closure in the West End, the musical will set out on its first UK tour later this year, opening at the Royal and Derngate in Northampton on September 19. The tour has dates booked until July 2019, with more to be announced.

Kinky Boots’ producers include Daryl Roth and Hal Luftig, James L Nederlander, Terry Allen Kramer, Playful Productions and CJ E and M.
