Emma Williams, Jonny Fines and Ray Shell are to lead the cast of An Officer and a Gentleman – The Musical, when it premieres in April. 
Williams will play Paula Pokrifki in the show, with Fines playing Zack Mayo, the role made famous by Richard Gere in the 1982 film of the same name. Shell will play Foley.
Williams’ West End credits include Half a Sixpence, Mrs Henderson Presents and Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, while Fines has most recently appeared in Annie at the Piccadilly Theatre. Shell created the role of Rusty in Starlight Express and has also appeared in Miss Saigon and Jesus Christ Superstar.
They are joined in leading roles by Ian McIntosh as Sid Worley and Jessica Daley as Lynette Pomeroy.
McIntosh recently appeared in Beautiful – The Carole King Musical, while Daley’s previous credits include Mamma Mia! and The Sound of Music.
The musical opens at Leicester’s Curve, which is co-producing, on April 6, with a press night on April 19.
It will then tour the UK and Ireland until September 15.
The production is directed by Curve artistic director Nikolai Foster, and choreographed by Kate Prince, artistic director of Zoo Nation.
The show is based on the book by Douglas Day Stewart and Sharleen Cooper Cohen. It features a soundtrack of 80s songs, with orchestrations by George Dyer and Sarah Travis acting as musical supervisor.
The production is designed by Michael Taylor, and has lighting by Ben Cracknell, sound by Tom Marshall and video by Douglas O’Connell.
The full cast includes Keisha Atwell, Andy Barke, Darren Bennett, James Darch, Nathaniel Landskroner, George Loannides, Joe Maxwell, Corinna Powlesland, Rachel Stanley, David Burrows, Vanessa Fisher, Aimee Hodnett, Kieran McGinn and Rhys Whitfield.
