Elizabeth McGovern and Amanda Abbington will star in a 10th anniversary production of God of Carnage, staged at Theatre Royal Bath later this year.

Yazmina Reza’s play – translated from French by Christopher Hampton – was first produced in the UK in 2008 with a cast including Ralph Fiennes and Tamsin Greig.

A new production will be directed by Lindsay Posner, in Bath, as part of Jonathan Church’s summer season at the theatre.

The main-house programme also includes Arthur Miller’s The Price, starring David Suchet, in a production marking the play’s 50th anniversary. It will also include Church’s production of An Ideal Husband, which is currently running in the West End and stars father and son Edward and Freddie Fox.

In the Ustinov Studio, Lucy Bailey will direct Joanna Murray-Smith’s thriller Switzerland, which is being staged in the UK for the first time after its premiere in Australia in 2015.

Church will direct Terence Rattigan’s In Praise of Love, starring Robert Lindsay and Tara Fitzgerald.

The Ustinov programme is completed by a new production of Henry V by theatre company Shakespeare at the Tobacco Factory and directed by Elizabeth Freestone. It runs in Bath prior to a UK tour and will star Ben Hall in the title role.
