Elaine Paige and Nigel Havers nominated for panto awards
Nigel Havers, Elaine Paige and Danny Mac are nominated for this year’s Great British Pantomime Awards.
The awards, now in their second year, celebrate pantomimes across the UK.
Paige is nominated for best female baddie, for her turn in Dick Whittington at the London Palladium. The category also includes Vikki Stone, for the Lyric Hammersmith’s Jack and the Beanstalk, and Zoe Birkett, who is up for Snow White at the Darlington Hippodrome.
Havers is also nominated for Dick Whittington at the Palladium, in the supporting male category, while the Palladium’s production itself is nominated for pantomime of the year.
Danny Mac is up for the leading male award, for the Birmingham Hippodrome’s Cinderella, opposite others including Charlie Stemp, also in Dick Whittington at the Palladium.
Awards co-founder Sam Munday-Webb said: “We knew that it was never going to be an easy job to see and judge such a vast array of productions in such a short amount of time. Since we launched in 2016, we have been very lucky to have the industry behind us supporting the awards. They are being seen as something incredibly positive and filling a gap in our industry.”
In total, there are 20 prizes, which will be presented on April 15 at the New Wimbledon Theatre, at a ceremony hosted by Christopher Biggins.
