Denise Van Outen is to join the West End cast of Chicago as Velma Kelly, from next month.

She will take over the role from Josefina Gabrielle, and will start performances on September 24, continuing until November 17.

Van Outen who has previously played the role of Roxie Hart in the West End and on Broadway, will join Alexandra Burke and Duncan James in the London cast.

Chicago is currently booking at the Phoenix Theatre until January 2019.

It is produced by Barry and Fran Weissler.

Chicago has music and lyrics by John Kander and Fred Ebb, with a book by Ebb and Bob Fosse. It is directed by Walter Bobbie.
