Alexandra Burke is to return to lead the cast of The Bodyguard when it sets out on a UK tour later this year.

Burke, who previously played the leading role of Rachel Marron in the West End and on the 2015/16 tour, will rejoin the show when it starts a new tour in December.

She will join the cast fresh from a two-month stint in Chicago in the West End, where she will play Roxie Hart from August 13 to October 14.

The Bodyguard opens at the Glasgow Theatre Royal on December 3, where it plays until December 29. It will then tour to locations including Hull, Southend, Belfast, Liverpool, Milton Keynes, Bristol, Cardiff, Norwich and Canterbury, where the tour ends in May.

The Bodyguard is directed by Thea Sharrock and produced by Michael Harrison and David Ian.
