Zoe Wanamaker, Toby Jones and Stephen Mangan are to star in a 60th–anniversary production of Harold Pinter’s The Birthday Party.
Ian Rickson will direct a West End revival of Pinter’s landmark play, which is being staged 60 years after it was first performed.
Rickson said: “I knew Harold from when I ran the Royal Court and he was a great mentor to me.
“There’s something about The Birthday Party in particular that’s so raw and committed – it has this kind of anarchic, punk spirit and I’m just so excited about directing it.”
Jones will play Stanley Webber in the play, while Wanamaker takes the role of Meg and Mangan plays Goldberg.
Further casting is yet to be announced.
The production runs at the Harold Pinter Theatre from January 9 to April 14, with press night on January 18.
It will be designed by the Quay Brothers, with lighting by Hugh Vanstone, sound by Simon Baker, music by Stephen Warbeck and casting by Amy Ball.
The Birthday Party is produced by Sonia Friedman.
