Watermill confirms cast for A Little Night Music
Newbury’s Watermill Theatre has announced a production of Stephen Sondheim musical A Little Night Music.
It will be performed by a company of actor-musicians and is part of the theatre’s 50th anniversary season.
Josefina Gabrielle will play Desiree Armfeldt, Dillie Keane will play Madame Armfeldt and Alastair Brookshaw will play Fredrik Egerman.
They will be joined by Lucy Keirl as Anne Egerman and Benedict Salter as Henrik Egerman.
Other cast members include Phoebe Fildes, Alex Hammond, Tilly-Mae Millbrook and Christina Tedders.
The musical is loosely based on Ingmar Bergman’s film Smiles of a Summer Night. It looks at three generations of couples at the turn of the 20th century.
Music and lyrics are by Sondheim, with a book by Hugh Wheeler. Paul Foster will direct, with Sarah Travis as musical supervisor.
Design is by David Woodhead, lighting by Howard Hudson, sound by Tom Marshall and choreography by Matt Flint.
It will run from July 27 to September 16, with press night on August 2.
