Tyrone Huntley and Wendy Mae Brown to star in The Color Purple
Tyrone Huntley, Wendy Mae Brown, and Cavin Cornwall have been cast in a one night only concert version of The Color Purple.
The production, which tells the story of a woman who triumphs over racial adversity, will show at 6pm at London’s Cadogan Hall on May 21.
Staged to raise money for the British Theatre Academy, the performance will also feature Rachel John, Hugh Maynard, Seyi Omooba, and Marisha Wallace.
They will perform alongside a chorus of 40 current BTA participants.
James Taylor is the show’s musical director and choreography is by Mykal Rand.
Music and Lyrics are by Brenda Russell, Allee Willis and Stephen Bray and the book is by Marsha Norman.
The Color Purple is produced by Matthew Chandler and Danielle Tarento.
In 2016, British actor Cynthia Ervine won a Tony award for her performance in the Broadway revival of the show.
