Theatre critic Kate Bassett joins Chichester as literary associate
Kate Bassett, former theatre critic for the Independent on Sunday, has been appointed literary associate at Chichester Festival Theatre.
Chichester said Bassett would be responsible for working with the executive team on commissioning new writers, dramaturgy and looking for “new and diverse voices for our stages”.
In a joint statement, artistic director Daniel Evans and executive director Rachel Tackley said Bassett would be working on a “broad range of new writing initiatives”, adding that she brought with her a “keen and discerning eye from her experience as a critic and academic”.
Bassett previously worked as an arts journalist and critic for the Times and the Independent on Sunday.
She has also been a freelance dramaturg and literary consultant for venues such as the National Theatre and the Michael Grandage Company.
