Patrick Marber’s The Red Lion to transfer to Trafalgar Studios
Live Theatre’s production of The Red Lion will transfer to London’s Trafalgar Studios 2 in November.
Patrick Marber’s play, which looks at different generations of football fans, was staged at Live Theatre in Newcastle earlier this year.
It stars Stephen Tompkinson, John Bowler and Dean Bone. Max Roberts directs, with design by Patrick Connellan.
Marber said: “To an extent the play is dramatising something about England; that there is one strain of thought which is about community, tolerance and belonging, and there is another which represents a whole counter trajectory about what England could or should be; that England is a business.”
The play is produced by Live Theatre and Trish Wadley. It runs from November 1 to December 2 with press night on November 6.
The Red Lion premiered at the National Theatre in 2015.
