Mat Fraser to lead cast of Richard III
Mat Fraser will play Richard III in a new production of the play at Hull Truck Theatre.
The production is running as part of Hull UK City of Culture, in a collaboration between Hull Truck and Northern Broadsides.
Northern Broadsides artistic director Barrie Rutter, who also directs, described Fraser as “an actor of scintillating physicality and vocal power”.
“His return to the British stage as Shakespeare’s iconic villain heralds a shivering frisson of excitement,” he added.
The production runs in Hull from May 4 to 27, before transferring to the Viaduct Theatre in Halifax where it runs from May 30 to June 4.
The full cast will be announced shortly.
