Manchester’s newest repertory company has announced plans to stage all 37 of Shakespeare’s plays in as many weeks.
Northern Rep, which moves into a new theatre space in the city next month, has launched 37/37, in which a company of 15 ensemble actors will stage a new Shakespeare play each week.
The first four shows to be confirmed include Romeo and Juliet, The Comedy of Errors, Henry V and The Merry Wives of Windsor.
Romeo and Juliet will open the season on September 19 with a production which will be performed in both English and British Sign Language.
It runs from September 19 to 23, followed by The Comedy of Errors from September 26 to 30.
