Kinky Boots announces UK tour

The triple Olivier award-winning musical Kinky Boots is to tour the UK next year, while continuing to run run in the West End.

The tour will open in Northampton, where the story is set, at the Royal and Derngate on September 19.

It will show at locations that include Wolverhampton, Newcastle, Manchester and Edinburgh, until March 2019.

The production first premiered in Chicago in 2012 and transferred to London’s Adelphi Theatre in 2015.

Kinky Boots is directed and choreographed by Jerry Mitchell and features music and lyrics by Cyndi Lauper, and a book by Harvey Fierstein.

Lauper said: “Everyone can relate to this universal story, and I am overwhelmed that people in the UK have embraced it with open arms. I am thrilled that this fabulous show will be touring the country.”

The musical is produced by Daryl Roth and Hal Luftig, James L Nederlander, Terry Allen Kramer and Playful Productions.
