Jacksons Lane announces plan to merge with Highgate Library
North London arts venue Jacksons Lane has announced plans to merge with its local library to create a community and culture hub.
Proposals have been put forward to relocate Highgate Library to Jacksons Lane, where funds from the sale of the original library building would go towards new facilities and further improvements to the venue.
Jacksons Lane hosts a range of arts and culture events, but specialises in circus.
It is hoped the plans will bring together the local arts and culture offering, as well as making Jacksons Lane’s facilities accessible to more people.
Jacksons Lane chief executive James Tilston said: “We’re proud to be at the heart of Highgate’s vibrant arts and culture scene and we’re always looking for ways to build on and improve our offer to the local community.
“We think that bringing the library into Jacksons lane would be the ideal partnership.”
Haringey Council’s Bernice Vanier added the Jacksons Lane had a “terrific track record” in delivering arts in the community, and that the merger would free up investment to improve both the venue and the library.
