Horace Trubridge has been elected the next general secretary of the Musicians’ Union.

Trubridge, currently assistant general secretary, beat executive committee member Kathy Dyson to secure the role in a vote by members.

He will replace John Smith, who retires in July.

Trubridge said he was “absolutely delighted” to have been chosen by the MU’s members to lead the union.

“Having spent the last few months travelling around the country and talking to the members, I have a very clear vision of where the union should be heading – building on John’s fantastic work of the past 15 years – and I am eager to get started,” he said.
