Fellowship scheme at major London theatres returns for second year

The London Theatre Consortium is seeking to appoint four fellows to work with its member theatres as part of a scheme to improve diversity at leadership level.

This is the second year that the scheme has run, and will see workers from black, Asian, or minority ethnic backgrounds offered six to 12-month placements at major London theatres from November.

The London Theatre Consortium, which is a group of London’s not-for-profit theatres including the Royal Court, Almeida, Donmar Warehouse and the Bush, is partnering with MOBO to offer the roles. MOBO is an organisation that pushes for greater diversity across the creative industries.

The aim of the scheme is to demystify the executive leadership of major London theatres, to provide mentoring and to support career development.

It is aimed at mid-career professionals working in theatre producing, administration and management.

The fellowships will offer the opportunity to attend LTC meetings, receive mentoring from executive producers across the 14 member theatres, including shadowing opportunities, and to attend at opening nights at member theatres.

Last year’s recipients of the executive fellowships were Rachel Brogan, director of the Television Workshop in Salford; Raidene Carter, head of creative programmes at the Albany; and Nisha Modhwadia, senior producer at the Birmingham Repertory Theatre.

The fellowships are not paid, but are offered to people in existing employment.

Applications must be submitted by 5pm on September 22, and placements will begin from November 2017. More information can be found here.
