Recipients of a fellowship scheme to diversify theatre leadership in the UK have been announced.
Daniel Kok, Jessica Draper and Nicholai La Barrie will spend between six and nine months on attachment with 14 London theatres including the Royal Court, the Almeida, the Young Vic, the Bush, Battersea Arts Centre and the Unicorn.
The scheme, now in its second year , is run in partnership with MOBO and was set up to address the lack of diversity at executive level in UK theatre.
Draper is head of learning and engagement of Synergy Theatre Project, while Kok is arts producer at Cambridge Junction and La Barrie is director of young people at Lyric Hammersmith.
Each will receive mentoring, shadowing and skill sessions from leaders at each of the theatres to help “provide pathways to break through into executive leadership”.
Royal Court executive producer and chair of the London Theatre Consortium, Lucy Davies, said: “All of the LTC theatres are profoundly committed to using our collective power to create opportunity and make change happen. Our first cohort of fellows in 2016 was a game-changing experiment, and we were all committed to doing it again.”
