English National Opera has appointed Michelle Williams as its new head of casting.

Her appointment comes as ENO's programming director, Bob Holland, takes on the new role of creative associate and producer. This will see him work closely with artistic director Daniel Kramer to deliver ENO's artistic programme.

Williams becomes part of the company's senior artistic team alongside artistic director Kramer and music director Martyn Brabbins, who have both joined within the past year.

She replaces Sophie Joyce as head of casting, who left ENO in November. Williams will seek out new singing talent for the company and support ENO's existing talent development programmes.

Williams joins ENO in March from Scottish Opera, where she was head of casting.

Kramer described her as a "perfect addition to ENO", adding: "Together we look forward to strengthening ENO's commitment to identifying, developing and featuring extraordinary British and international talent."
