Casting has been announced for the Lyric Hammersmith’s production of Terror, in which audience members become the jury in a terrorism trial.
Emma Fielding will play the counsel for the prosecution, with Forbes Masson as lawyer for the defence. Tanya Moodie will star as the trial’s judge.
Ashley Zhangazha will take on the role of an Air Force pilot, Lars Koch, who has shot down a hijacked aeroplane with 164 people on board as it was heading towards a crowded football stadium.
Shanaya Rafaat and John Lightbody complete the cast.
The play is by German defence lawyer and author Ferdinand von Schirach. It has been performed in eight countries, as well as on television in Germany, Austria and Switzerland.
A website for the play contains breakdowns of every guilty and not guilty vote cast by audience members in more than 1,000 performances of the play.
Lyric artistic director Sean Holmes will direct David Tushingham’s translation of the play, with design by Anna Fleischle, costumes by Loren Elstein, lighting by Joshua Carr and sound by Nick Manning.
It runs from June 14 to July 15, with press performances on June 20, 21 and 22.
