Casting announced for Hairspray tour
Casting has been announced for the UK tour of Hairspray the Musical, which will include musical theatre actor Brenda Edwards and comedian Norman Pace.
Layton Williams will return to the production to play the role of Seaweed and newcomer Rebecca Mendoza will make her professional debut as Tracy Turnblad.
Directed by Paul Kerryson and choreographed by Drew McOnie, Hairspray will open at Wales Millennium Centre on August 16.
It will tour to locations including Blackpool, Glasgow, Birmingham, Belfast, Guildford, Plymouth and Hull before finally running at the Wycombe Swan in Buckinghamshire from May 21 to 26.
Further cast members include Matt Rixon returning as Edna, Gina Murray, Jon Tsouras, Edward Chitticks, Aimee Moore and Annalise Liard-Bailey.
Monifa James, Lauren Concannon, Melissa Nettleford and Emily-Mae Walker will feature as The Dynamites.
Other cast members include Shay Barclay, Ben Darcy, George Hinson, Jordan Laviniere, Graham MacDuff, Lindsay McAllister, Tracey Penn and Freya Rowley.
Music and lyrics are by Marc Shaiman and Scott Wittman and book is by Mark O’Donnell and Thomas Meehan.
Hairspray is produced by Mark Goucher.
