Lauren Clancy has been appointed executive director of the Bush Theatre in west London.

She replaces Jon Gilchrist who announced earlier this year he would be leaving the venue, where he has held the executive director post since 2014.

Clancy was previously the Bush’s head of marketing, and as executive director will work alongside artistic director Madani Younis.

Clancy has previously worked for theatre marketing agency AKA, as well as in the readings department of BBC Radio Drama.

Of her appointment, she said: “I have loved the four years I’ve spent at the Bush so far, working alongside Madani and the team to articulate a bold, contemporary, innovative Bush Theatre that speaks up for its community.

“Now we have a beautifully refurbished home to match our vision, the potential is huge and I’m looking forward to pouring my energy into realising the next lease of the Bush’s life.”

Younis added that Clancy had had a “huge influence” on the theatre in her marketing role, and said: “I look forward to working with her to further cement the theatre’s place in its new home in Shepherd’s Bush and together shape the future growth of the organisation.”
