Andrew Lloyd Webber will join composer Howard Goodall in conversation about musical theatre for a new six-part series coming to radio station Classic FM.

The show, The Sound of Music, is billed as a series that will celebrate the history of musicals and explore its relationship with opera. The programme will also look at the differences between the West End and Broadway, and the future of the genre.

As part of the series, Lloyd Webber will reflect on his own career.

The show begins on January 6, 2018 – the year Lloyd Webber turns 70. It airs from 9pm to 10pm and has been announced as part of a new weekend schedule for the station in 2018.

Classic FM managing editor Sam Jackson said the shows and their presenters “share Classic FM’s vision to make classical music relevant to all”.
