West End musical Aladdin has announced its first major cast change ahead of the show’s first anniversary at London’s Prince Edward Theatre.
Matthew Croke, whose previous credits include Funny Girl, will play Aladdin, marking his West End debut in a leading role.
Croke’s first performance as Aladdin will be on June 5.
Nick Cavaliere will join the company to play the role of Iago, whilst current cast members Miles Barrow, Leon Craig and Daniel de Bourg will step into the roles of Omar, Babkak and Kassim.
Other new cast members include Chanelle Anthony, Danny Becker, Cindy Belliot, Filippo Coffano and Nolan Edwards.
Travis Kerry and Niko Wirachman will both join the production after entering international open auditions.
Jade Ewen and Trevor Dion Nicholas will continue in the roles of Jasmine and Genie.
Aladdin features new music written by Alan Menken with lyrics from Howard Ashman, Tim Rice and Chad Beguelin.
The show’s book is by Beguelin, and the production is directed and choreographed by Casey Nicholaw.
Set design is by Bob Crowley, lighting is by Natasha Katz, costume is by Gregg Barnes and sound is by Ken Travis.
Aladdin is produced by Disney Theatrical productions.
