Mel Brooks’ Young Frankenstein confirms West End run
Mel Brooks’ Young Frankenstein will open in the West End at the Garrick Theatre.
Based on the Oscar-nominated film, the comedy musical will open in the West End on September 28, with press night on October 10.
The production will run for a pre-West End season at the Theatre Royal in Newcastle from August 26 to September 9.
News of the London run for Young Frankenstein comes as Brooks is to be awarded the BAFTA Fellowship this week, the highest honour that the academy bestows.
Brooks will collaborate with Broadway director and choreographer Susan Stroman on this new production.
Casting will be announced at a later date.
Young Frankenstein is produced by Brooks, Michael Harrison and Fiery Angel.
The music and lyrics are also by Brooks, and the book is by Brooks and Thomas Meehan.
Set design is by Beowulf Boritt, costume design is by William Ivey long, and lighting design is by Ben Cracknell.
