Tooting Arts Club’s pop-up production of Sweeney Todd is to transfer to New York next year.

The sell-out show was first performed at Harrington’s Pie and Mash Shop in Tooting in 2014, before a West End transfer in 2015 – staged in a disused restaurant.

It will now run at Off-Broadway venue the Barrow Street Theatre, which will be transformed into an immersive pie shop to seat 130 audience members. As with previous stagings, traditional pie and mash will be served before the show.

Previews will begin on February 14, before an opening night on March 1.

Bill Buckhurst will return to direct the transfer, which has design by Simon Kenny and musical supervision by Benjamin Cox.

It is being produced in New York by Rachel Edwards, Jenny Gersten, Seaview Productions and Barrow Street Theatre, while Nate Koch will serve as executive producer.

Casting and further creatives have not yet been announced.
