Rambert has appointed Helen Shute as its new chief executive and executive producer.

She replaces Nadia Stern, who leaves the company in January 2017.

Shute joins Rambert in March 2017 from film production company House, where she has worked since 2015 and prior to which she was a founder and executive director of Hofesh Shechter Company.

Shute said she was “delighted” to be joining the contemporary dance company, describing it as a “major force in the global arena”.

Rambert chairman Howard Panter said: “I am truly excited that Helen is joining Rambert to lead it into a new period of visionary work and expansion. Helen blends enormous passion for new ideas, with the experience to appreciate the rich heritage of Rambert and its unique 90 years of dance history.”
