A share of £25,000 has been divided between eight choreographers to develop new projects.

The money is awarded by the Dance Enterprise Ideas Fund, and was presented at the Dance Enterprise Ideas Summit, held on March 21 and hosted by East London Dance at Stratford Circus Arts Centre.

The summit was the first in a series of planned annual events that offers artists, producers and venues the chance to share and exchange ideas.

A total of 23 dancemakers pitched ideas at the event, of which eight were chosen to receive money from the fund.

These include Wayne Parsons, from Wayne Parsons Dance, who received £5,000 to develop a new dance work, and Jade Shaw, from Parkour Dance Company. Shaw was awarded £4,910 to devise a parkour dance project.

The fund was established in 2015 and awards artists up to £5,000, as well as support from its partners, including Studio Wayne McGregor.

East London Dance director Polly Risbridger said: “It was an extremely tough decision making process but the selected ideas demonstrate an eclectic and diverse range of projects that have huge potential for the future. The pitches were testament to the creativity, entrepreneurialism and generosity of the UK independent dance sector.”
