Charlie and the Chocolate Factory has become the first West End production to offer day tickets via app TodayTix.

The show follows the Royal Court in London in offering day seats, usually only available in person from the box office, to audience members via an app.

Audiences can use TodayTix to purchase £25 seats through the app. Tickets will be released at 10am every day, and can be bought on a first-come, first-served basis.

Producer Caro Newling said: “Since opening in June 2013, we’ve developed ticketing initiatives to match the demand of a total audience of more than 2 million people.”

She added that the initiative would help “channel further access to day seats”.

TodayTix co-founder Merritt Baer said he was “incredibly excited to help our customers attend theatre more often through exclusive access to the best prices”.
