A call centre staffed entirely by actors has opened a branch in Manchester, as it expands its operation across the country.

RSVP Media Response is based in London, where it has been running since 1988. Staff are offered flexible working hours and are able to take time off to attend auditions, as well as being able to record self-tape auditions on the premises.

The call centre has now opened a Manchester office, employing an initial staff of 50. However, it said it had plans to employ 150 sales agents on the new site within a year.

The Manchester branch is located at Media City in Salford.

RSVP managing director, Mark Abernathy, said the new location was fittingly placed close to the Lowry as well as the BBC’s base in the north, ITV studios and the Coronation Street production set.

“It will be great to have so many casting directors close by and they in turn will have easy access to a pool of actors, should they need to fill last-minute castings. This is the perfect location for our actor agents, and also for our business growth,” Abernethy said.

Earlier this year, RSVP launched an acting agency, RSVP Artists, at its base in London, which will also have a presence in Manchester.

Client services director Hitel Patel described the expansion into Manchester as a “very exciting venture”.

“We are thrilled to be branching out to the north, it’s such a fast-growing market, with strong manufacturing, entertainment, digital media, science, technology and service sectors,” he said.
