Jim Dale to bring one-man show to London

Tony award-winning actor Jim Dale will bring his one-man show Just Jim Dale to the West End in May.

The show will run at the Vaudeville Theatre from May 28 to June 20, previewing from May 26.

Dale made his West End debut at the theatre in 1965 in The Wayward Way and his return to the venue marks the 50th anniversary of his first performance there.

In the show, Dale leads the audience through his career, from appearing at the National Theatre to working on 11 Carry On films and appearing on Broadway in Me and My Girl and Barnum. Dale won a Tony for his performance in Barnum.

The one-man show will feature songs from productions he has appeared in, including The Colours of My Life and The Lambeth Walk.

Just Jim Dale is directed by Richard Maltby Jr and the London run will be preceded by two shows at the Corby Cube in Northampton, which is 10 miles from where he was born.

It is produced by Nica Burns, who said she had seen the show in the US and had “begged” Dale to bring it to London.
