Jesus Christ Superstar tour reschedules performances at four venues
UPDATE: This story was amended on August 19 at 3.30pm to reflect new information
Dates on the forthcoming tour of Jesus Christ Superstar have been rescheduled at several venues across the UK.
At New Wimbledon Theatre, Hall for Cornwall in Truro and the Kings Theatre Glasgow, Monday performances have been replaced with extra mid-week matinees. The only other theatre affected, the Congress Theatre in Eastbourne, has not added an extra matinee.
The production’s run at the Congress Theatre will now take place on September 8, while performances at the New Wimbledon Theatre will begin on September 22, at the King’s Theatre on October 6 and at Hall for Truro on October 27.
Commercial director Steve Potts – from the show’s producers Bill Kenwright Ltd – said: “Occasionally, schedule alterations are necessary in order to accommodate, for example, logistical matters and non-availabilities. Such changes are always agreed with the theatre in advance, and customers are always offered the choice of an alternative performance or a full refund.
He added: “In the case of Wimbledon, Glasgow and Truro, the Monday evening was replaced with an extra mid-week matinee, and the original eight-show schedule was maintained. In Eastbourne no additional matinee has been added. I’m pleased to say our visit to these theatres forms part of the production’s successful year-long schedule, including a ground-breaking summer season across Germany, which has already resulted in the production being invited back to play a second consecutive year.”
The production recently completed the first leg of its 2015 tour, which stars Glenn Carter, Tim Rogers and Rachel Adedeji.
It is scheduled to begin again in Llandudno on September 1, before touring until November 14.
The schedule changes follow the cancellation of another production of the Andrew Lloyd Webber musical in June, which did not take place in Greece due to the country’s economic situation.
