Janie Dee and Anita Dobson to star in Theatre Royal Bath’s summer season

Janie Dee is to star in the world premiere of the musical version of Mrs Henderson Presents as part of Theatre Royal Bath’s summer season.

The season also includes Anita Dobson in Oliver Goldsmith’s She Stoops to Conquer.

Mrs Henderson Presents runs from August 15 to September 5, with press night on August 26.

It will be directed by Lindsay Posner and has a book by Terry Johnson, with music by George Fenton and Simon Chamberlain.

The show’s lyrics are by Don Black and the cast also includes Sarah Bakker, Katie Bernstein and Emma Williams.

The venue’s summer season opens with Dobson in She Stoops to Conquer, which runs from July 1 to July 18, with press night on July 8. Posner also directs this production.

Alan Bennett’s Talking Heads, a series of three monologues including A Cream Cracker Under the Settee, A Chip in the Sugar and A Lady of Letters, follows.

The show runs from July 22 to August 8, with press night on July 28, and is directed by Sarah Esdaile.

Talking Heads is a stage adaptation of the TV monologues that were broadcast in 1988, starring Stephanie Cole. Cole returns to star in A Cream Cracker Under the Settee on stage.
