Almeida’s Oresteia to transfer to the West End
Robert Icke’s production of Oresteia is to transfer to the West End.
The play, which originally opened at the Almeida Theatre earlier this year, will run at the Trafalgar Studios from August 22 to November 7. Its press night is September 7.
Original cast members Lia Williams, Lorna Brown, Jessica Brown Findlay, Annie Firbank, Joshua Higgott, Luke Thompson, Angus Wright and Hara Yannas will reprise their roles in the West End run.
Almeida artistic director Rupert Goold said: “That a production of this ambition and intensity can find a commercial life is testament to the sheer modernity of the world and Robert Icke’s breathtaking vision.”
Directed by Icke, the show has design by Hildergard Bechtler, lighting by Natasha Chivers, sound by Tom Gibbons and video by Tim Reid.
It is produced in the West End by the Almeida, Sonia Friedman Productions and Ambassador Theatre Group.
