Willemijn Verkaik joins cast of Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown
Former Wicked star Willemijn Verkaik is to join the cast of Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown, which begins its run at London’s Playhouse Theatre in December.
Verkaik, who was forced to pull out of Wicked following a back injury in July, will appear alongside Ricardo Afonso and Haydn Oakley. They join the previously announced Tamsin Greig in the production, a musical adaptation of Pedro Almodovar’s 1998 film.
Haydn Gwynne, Anna Skellern and Jerome Pradon also appear in the production, which is directed by Bartlett Sher and written by David Yazbek and Jeffrey Lane – the writing team behind Dirty Rotten Scoundrels.
The cast also includes Marianne Benedict, Holly James, Michael Matus, Rebecca McKinnis, Sarah Moyle, Alastair Natkiel, Nuno Queimado and Dale Rapley.
Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown begins previews on December 16, with press night on January 12, 2015.
It is produced in the West End by Howard Panter for Ambassador Theatre Group.
